Langtang Treks

Discover traditional villages and untouched forest on the route towards the peaks of Langtang. This area is one of the least trekked Langtang Trekregions but one of the most rewarding. Two rest days are built into the program at Kyangin Gompa for an excursion towards Lirung Glacier. Of particular interest is the contrast between the Hindu culture of the valley and the Buddhist to the north.

The region north-northeast of Kathmandu offers at least two different major routes. Langtang fits nicely into 10 days, counting transportation time, and offers truly spectacular high-mountain scenery.

The scared lake of Gosainkund and the Sherpa region of Helembu to the east are admittedly more minor treks, but they can be done in as little as four or five days. A distinct advantage of all two is their proximity to Kathmandu. Helembu or Gosainkund-bound trekkers can actually start walking from the valley. The regions can also be combined in a 16-day circuit as long as high passes are not blocked by snow.

You can combine both Langtang and Gosainkund Helambu into a single trek of 14 days.
