Everest Treks

This trek in the Khumbu region is an experience of a lifetime. The region has a lot to offer from interesting Yeti legends to Himalayan giants like Mt. Everest (8,848m/29,028ft), Lhotse (8,501m/27,883ft), Lhotse Shar (8,386m/27,506ft), Nuptse (7,879m/25,843ft), Ama Dablam (6,856m/22,488ft), Thamserku (6,685m/21,927ft)….the list is endless.

The Khumbu region is also famous for its many monasteries for visitors interested in Tibetan Buddhism. Large and small stones with "Om Mani Padme Hum" (literally "hail to the jewel in the lotus") engraved on them are plentiful along the trail around the settlements. Water-driven mills and prayer wheels are some of the interesting sights in the Khumbu.

Towards the end of November or the beginning of December the monks of the Thengboche monastery perform a three day long dance & drama to celebrate the festival of Mani Rimdu, signifying the victory of Buddhism over Bon.

The trek is done by flying to the STOL airstrip of Lukla and joining the main trail a day below Namche. Above Namche, the scenery is truly spectacular. As we trek along, we make remarkable contacts with the interesting Sherpa people, and there's time to adapt to the slow pace of life in this fascinating land of the highest mountains & Yeti legends, stopping by to visit the homes of the friendly Sherpas.
