Trekking in Nepal

Walking holidays in the Everest, Annapurna, and other regions of Nepal

No roads penetrate this rugged region of Annapurna, Everest, Langtang, Dolpo and Mustang, though a few narrow airstrips for Short Takeoff and Landing craft (STOL) have been carved out of the mountainous terrain.

Inhabited by friendly ethnic people, the remote settlements scattered across Nepals rugged mountains are to this day connected only by foot-trails. Nepal naturally offers a wide choice of excellent treks – with the backdrop of the highest mountains on Earth.

While the most popular seasons are October – November and March – April, trekking can be done year round. Passes above 4,100 meters (14,000feet) may be snowbound from December through March, but lowland routes come into their own at this time. The summer months are admittedly soggy, but rain shadow regions like Mustang and Manang remain relatively dry.
